Erfinden Sie keine speziellen „internationalen“ Automatisierungen.

Was Sie pro Land messen

Temeljni tokovi, nato razvejitve

  2. Valuta.

Česa avtomatizacija ne more popraviti

Ko ste pripravljeni preveriti svojo celotno čezmejno postavitev ob popolnem seznamu, uporabite celoten kontrolni seznam za nastavitev email marketinga v Shopifyju.

How to Automate Email Marketing for a Multi-Country Shopify Store

Automating email across several countries comes down to one discipline: every automated message has to arrive in the right language, the right currency, and at a sensible local hour, decided automatically from data already on the customer. Build the same core flows any Shopify store needs — welcome, abandoned cart, browse abandonment, post-purchase, win-back — then add three branching layers on top: language, currency, and send timing. Get those three right and one flow serves every country without you hand-managing a separate campaign per region. This is the strategy piece. The nuts and bolts of wiring it through a specific tool live in using Omnisend with Shopify Markets; here we’re building the system that setup exists to serve.

The real problem: one list, many countries

A multi-country store has a single subscriber list where customers don’t share a language, a currency, or a time zone. Send everyone the same English email at 9am your time and you’ve mistimed it for half the list, priced it wrong for a chunk of it, and written it in a language some of them don’t read. Each of those is a small insult, and together they quietly train your best foreign-market customers to ignore you.

The instinct is to run a separate campaign per country by hand — write the French one, write the German one, schedule each. That works for the occasional newsletter and collapses the moment you want behavior-triggered automations, because an abandoned cart doesn’t wait for you to be at your desk in the right country’s morning. Automation is the only version of this that scales, but only if the branching logic is built in from the start.

Why “just translate everything” isn’t the whole answer

Translation is necessary and nowhere near sufficient. Three things beyond language decide whether cross-border email works.

Currency has to match the storefront. A customer who browsed in euros and gets a cart reminder quoting dollars assumes something’s broken and doesn’t come back. Price and language have to agree with what they actually saw.

Timing has to be local. A well-written cart email that lands at 3am in the customer’s time zone loses to a mediocre one that lands at 7pm. Across countries, “send at the best time” only means something if it’s computed per recipient’s local clock, not yours.

The signal has to be on the contact. None of the branching works unless each customer carries a reliable language, country, and currency value. That data foundation is the part people skip, and then their clever branches route on empty fields.

Miss any of these and the translation was lipstick on a broken send.

The data foundation you build first

Before a single flow, make sure every contact carries what the branches will read: country or region, language or locale, and the currency their orders use. Order-based contacts usually bring this from Shopify’s address and order data. Pure newsletter signups often don’t — they arrive with an email address and nothing about who they are.

So capture market context at the point of signup. Tag each storefront’s popup with its language and country, so a brand-new French subscriber who hasn’t ordered yet still enters the French welcome path. The general segmentation toolkit — building and maintaining audiences from customer attributes — is covered in how to use Shopify customer data for email segmentation; for a multi-country store, country, language, and currency are simply the fields that carry the most weight.

The core flows, then the branching

Don’t invent special “international” automations. Build the same flows every serious Shopify store runs, then layer the three branches on each.

Start with the flows themselves:

Then apply the layers to each flow:

  1. Language branch. Fork the flow on the language field so each contact enters their language path. Separate branches per language are easier to write, test, and repair than one template stuffed with conditional blocks — when the German version breaks, you want to fix German, not untangle a shared template.
  2. Currency. Product blocks and prices should render in the customer’s market currency, matching their storefront. Verify this with real test contacts per market rather than trusting it by default.
  3. Local send timing. Where the tool supports sending by the recipient’s time zone, use it, so a cart reminder or campaign lands during their evening, not yours.

The elegance is that one abandoned-cart flow, branched three ways on language and priced per market and timed to local hours, quietly serves every country. You built it once.

A store example

A coffee brand on Shopify sells to Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands — two languages effectively (German and Dutch), euros throughout, three time zones that happen to be close. They started by fixing signups: each storefront’s popup tags new contacts with language and country, so newsletter-only subscribers aren’t stranded without a language.

Then they built four flows — welcome, abandoned cart, replenishment timed to when a bag of beans typically runs out, and win-back — each forked into German and Dutch paths, prices pulling in euros per storefront, sends scheduled to each recipient’s local evening. A Dutch subscriber who abandons a cart at lunch gets a Dutch reminder that evening, in euros, with the exact product they left. No separate campaign, no manual scheduling, no owner awake at the wrong hour.

Illustrative, obviously — your countries, languages, and reorder timing will differ, and the replenishment window depends entirely on your product.

What to measure, per country

Aggregate numbers hide broken markets. Watch these by country:

  • Open and click rate per market — a market lagging badly usually means language or timing is off, not a weak audience.
  • Revenue per recipient by country — shows which markets email actually earns from and where to invest more.
  • Unsubscribe and complaint rate by market — a spike in one country often means a branch is misrouting or the copy reads as foreign.
  • Automation vs campaign revenue — your flows should become the reliable, always-on earner while campaigns handle timely promotions.

Reviewing per market is what catches a French branch quietly firing English before it costs you the whole French list.

What automation can’t fix

Being honest about the ceiling: automation routes and times the right message, but it can’t write a good one, and it can’t make a weak offer land in a market that doesn’t want it. If a country underperforms after the language, currency, and timing are all correct, the issue is upstream — product-market fit, shipping cost, or pricing for that region — not the flow. A tool moves the message; it doesn’t create demand. Treat a persistently flat market as a business question, not an email-settings question.

How Omnisend fits

I run this kind of setup in my own stores, and the reason it’s manageable is that an ecommerce-first tool carries Shopify’s contact, order, and product data across in a form you can branch and personalize on, with email and SMS in one place. For a multi-country store that means building the language forks, per-market currency, and local-time sends inside one flow builder instead of gluing tools together. The specific wiring — what syncs from a Markets store, how to verify currency renders correctly — is in using Omnisend with Shopify Markets.

The honest limits: the branching only works if your data foundation is solid, and no tool invents demand in a market that isn’t buying. I tested Klaviyo and Omnisend and chose Omnisend for the combined channels and self-managed pricing; it’s an affiliate partner of Shopimation, and the free tier is enough to build and test one branched flow across two markets before you scale it out.

Your next step

Pick your single highest-value flow — usually abandoned cart — and build the language, currency, and timing branches for your two biggest markets first. Prove it earns, then extend the pattern to your other flows. When you’re ready to check your whole cross-border setup against a full list, run the complete Shopify email marketing setup checklist.
